This Bible appears to be originally owned by Pernina Burgess (1835-1861) who married Calvin Phy (1829-1889). Pernina died 16 days after giving birth to her only child, Joel Kenton Phy (b. 9 Feb 1861) on 25 Feb 1861. The Bible appears to have been given to Joel. He then passed it down to his daughter, Pernina May Phy Whitaker (1891-1974) who married William Bennie Whitaker (1889-1959). It includes birth and death dates of some of the children of Josiah and Nancy (Phillips) Phy
