  • Wm. H. Slagle died at his home a few miles south of Cookeville last Saturday, March 4, 1911, aged about 83 years. He was buried at Lovelady Sunday evening. He was the father of John Slagle of this city.

  • Mrs. Eliza Jane Slagle died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fannie Martin, of Monterey, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1923, at the advanced age of 89 years and one month, having been born Jan. 20, 1834. She died of illness due to the infirmities of old. She was the widow of Wm. H. Slagle, who died about twelve years ago. Mrs. Slagle is survived by six children: Mrs. Molle McKinley of Chestnut Mound, Mrs. D. A. Williams of Algood, Mrs. Fannie Martin of Monterey, Jim Slagle of White county, and John F. and Eugene H. Slagle fo this city. She leaves many other relatives, the family begin prominent in this section. Her remains were laid to rest Wednesday afternoon in the Lovelady cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. Dow A. Ensor.
