- Mrs. Scendia Duncan died at her home near this place last Tuesday evening. Her remains were laid to rest in White County in the Howell Cemetery. She was 70 odd years old and leaves a husband and a brother and many friends to mourn her loss.

John Massa of the County of White and State aforesaid would state to your Honor, that Granderson Duncan and Andrew Rush Duncan are both sons of his, begotten on the body of Susannah Duncan of the county of White and State of Tennessee and born out of lawful wedlock, That your Petitioner since their birth has joined in lawful wedlock to the Mother of said children, and since that time they have been living with your Petitioner, and have been good and duitful sons, Therefore the promises considered your Petitioner would pray your Honor that it be decreed, that the names of these chidlre be changed to that of Granderson Massa and Andrew Rush Massa, And that they be decreed and constituted lawful heirs of your Petitioner to share and share alike with his other lawful children in the distribution of his property.
