  • PERMELIA KEZZIE TALLENT was born about 1842 in Tennessee, died 8 July 1906 in Arkansas, and buried in Colony Cemetery, east of Bee Branch, Arkansas, the daughter of William TALLENT and Margaret Peggy Ann DERM. She married 22 May 1861 in White County, Tennessee to Robert "Bob" AARON, born about 1841 in Arkansas, died 21 March 1890 in Putnam County, Tennessee, and buried in Tennessee. While a young boy, his father died. We are unsure of his name. His mother remarried by the time Bob was nine. He is listed in the household of John McKINLY in Tennessee. At some point, probably as a teen, he became discouraged and ran away from home. Several of Robert's descendants from different parts of the family, some who had no contact with others in 25 years, knew stories of how their great grandfather had run away. He moved in with a family named Been/Bean. He went by the name of Bob BEAN for a time. By the age of 20, he is listed as Robert Aarons, living alone in White County, Tennessee. Soon after he married Permilla, he enlisted in the military. They had 7 children: Thomas William Aaron, born 1862, Sarah Aaron, born 1864, John Mac Aaron, born 3 Feb 1866, died Feb 1924, Margaret Aaron, born 1868. She married Baker Florida, Minerva Ann/Annie Aaron, born 9 Jan 1869, died 23 Mar 1960, Timothy D. Aaron, born 1 Oct 1871, died about 1967, and James Asberry Aaron, born 22 Jan 1881.
  • According to the widows pension filed by Permelia, Robert, (Bob) enlisted in Company B, 1st Regiment of the Tennessee Mtd. Volunteers. Bob served in the Federal Service under Lieutenant Pain in Captain Pennington's Company. He then volunteered in the Confederate Service and served under Captain Dempsey Southland. Bob and Permelia married May 1861 in White County Tennessee about 10 miles west of Sparta. Bob enlisted in the Confederate army one month after they were married. Permelia believed that he enlisted in Col. Sid Stanton's Regiment. She states for a fact that he had volunteered willingly. He was in this service for 2 to 3 years. After a long march, barefooted and with nothing to eat, Robert deserted and went home. Pension application states the last name as Aarons. Each witness or witness to a witness including Permelia herself signed their name Aarons. Permelia stated in the pension application that her name was Aarons.
Material on Permilla (TALLENT) Aaron(s) was provided by Judy Williams, 801 West Garfield, Morton, TX 79346. Judy is printing a book, "The Descendants of Robert & Permilla Aaron(s) Tennessee to Arkansas." The book list 7 generations of the Aaron Family.
