- Tennessee Board of Pension Examiners (17 Mar 1894) - Board requests an update on WHHA's physical condition. WHHA reports that it is very bad and that he is afraid that he might have to have his right leg amputated. His financial position is not good. He has two sons living with him -- one is very sickly.
- A. A. Ferrell MD (9 Jul 1903) - WHHA is having problems with both legs due to injuries in the war. He is blind in one eye.
